Check out this new hangout spot and restaurant! @gatherindy is open! I had the honor of making all of their outdoor signage as well as their bar stools!

I had the pleasure of installing these beautiful, white oak custom mirrors here in Indy this morning. These were a fun project from all of the milling, jointing, gluing, sanding, and painting. These touch a bunch of hands to get finished but the end results speak for themselves!

Thanks to @highfrequencyarts for trusting me and my fabulous crew to pull this one off. What I didn’t know until yesterday is that it was for the president of the company’s personal office. @royalsixsculpture outdid himself on this one!!! And thank you to @firstib for letting me fulfill this vision.

“Spronk” is finished! Way too long of a crazy story with this project. I’ll just say I was defeated and then @kristen_cumings moved back to Indy and became yet another angel in my life. She took all of these disparate parts that I had no idea what to do with and created a robot in about an hour. Thank you, Kristen!!!!! A huge thanks to all of the folks at @flexwareinnovation for trusting me and being so patient with what seemed like an impossible task, @joannataft of @harrisoncenterarts for giving the glowing recommendation, @royalsixsculpture and @artbyaarondodd for working with Kristen and me and for big time help with install, @karsonliford and all of the muscles who showed up to get this thing installed!

Having a great time figuring out what I can and can’t do and working with great people like @wearestudiord along the way. These components were a commission for the tiny little town of Remington, IN. If you’ve ever driven to Chicago you’ve seen the exit for Remington and Wolcott but likely never stopped. This town is so cute!!! And I’m guessing the hardware store has anything you’d ever need. And speaking of knowing what I can’t do…. I really really suck at peeling the backing off of VHB tape. Just ask @artbyaarondodd !!!

Monster table alert!!! This one was such a perfect project from beginning to end. I absolutely love working with @sochic_hope of @sochichomedesign whenever I get the chance. She came up with this design for a wonderful client, we worked together to make it a reality and now there is a beautiful outdoor dining room table waiting for friends and family to gather on a gorgeous day. White oak base with brass inlays support a 10’ long steel table top.

There’s just nothing better than collaborating with cool people to make a gorgeous end result. While my part wasn’t sexy, I did get to fabricate the fireplace insert for this project along with help from @artbyaarondodd and @royalsixsculpture and the end result is priceless! @brbzch knocked it out of the park as usual on this one!!!

So many fun projects in the works and I’ve become a professional at not posting anything on social media but this little beauty has to great of a story not to share. It all started 5 years ago when I received a random message from someone I didn’t know but who followed my account. @atombomb_baby had a cool wedge from a fallen tree and she thought that if anyone could do anything cool with it, that person was me! Then, a couple of weeks ago @puddysdad and @317connie reached out needing a new top for an end table they had purchased online from a retail site that will remain unnamed. They wanted something unique with organic qualities. I looked down and there was that giant chunk of wood. @artbyaarondodd and I cut the general shape, planed, milled, added resin to connect a loose but essential corner, sanded and sanded, then it was finally time for a clear coat. Major surprise bonus- as we started to clean up the wood it was revealed to be an absolutely intoxicating to look at chunk of spalted maple. #fabrication #fabricationforfriends #woodworking #spaltedmaple #organic #hardedge #resin

I just never know what jobs I’m going to take on nowadays. I probably went a bit overboard in the design phase but I think it paid off for this custom fossil stand. Steel powder-coated frame, milled ash table top, and powder-coated steel fossil inserts with felt lining. Unrelated, if you’re looking for campy and inappropriate B horror movies, I can’t recommend Piranha 3DD and Piranha 3DDD enough. #customfabrication

I love the fun jobs I get to do lately. These “table tops” were really old bakery shelves before a redesign and some major restoration of the wood. I call it the “His and Hers.” A big thank you to @grady_owens and @artbyaarondodd for helping me with this one! This doesn’t happen nearly often enough in the world of public art but if you’ve been following along over at @owensandcrawley you might have noticed that not only did a lovely sculpture get installed at the Albany County Courthouse in Laramie, Wyoming, a week ago but a painting as well! When we were chosen as finalists for this project @lukeecrawley and I thought it would be fun to collaborate on a painting for the space as well to really tie in the concept of the Laramie aquifer. The selection committee loved the idea and so “Watershed Moment” was born. This was an exciting painting to create for a number of reasons. The build up of many many layers resonates with so many millions of years of sedimentary evolution while the colors represent the predominant colors of the topography as well as the water that runs right below the city. A huge huge thank you to @laramiepublicart for choosing our multifaceted proposal for this unique space. We couldn’t be any happier! #art #publicart #laramie

I’m never good at social media but if you check out my stories from time to time you’re more likely to see some of the more unique things I do to feed my kids. For instance, sometimes I fully refurbished really, really old snow sleds from back in the day. I have to give a huge shout out to @royalsixsculpture for being so hands on with this project. These sleds showed up busted and rusty with broken slats and mismatched hardware but we carefully disassembled them, got the steel frames sandblasted and powder coated, cut new pieces of wood where needed, and purchased matching hardware to finish the job.

I don’t always wake up at 4am on a First Friday but I guess that when I do it’s to help @_fydutr_ install a 12’ tall “X” for an #EdgeX conference. Great work, Henry! @earthling.on.wheels Thanks@for@getting up way too early to help as well.

Just about every project lately is special for one reason or another. This one is special for two reasons. One, I had never made a handrail before so that’s off my bucket list. Two, and more important, I got to make it for dear friends @supersallyjo and @mauricebroaddus !!! So my Dad called me up out of the blue a few weeks ago and he said he’d love to come see our fabrication studio. I was humbled by his interest and so we arranged for him to visit a few days later. While he’s here he sees the things I’m working on, the things @lukeecrawley is working on, those we are working on together, all of of our materials, tools, machines, etc… then he sees the mannequin legs. “Can you make me a leg lamp?” he says.
